Prakash Gurung at Paleti

Preparations for the October series of Pateli has been completed. Renowned musician and singer Prakash Gurung is busy rehearsing at the 'R'shala, Man Bhawan with Paleti musicians and other artists to take part in the Paleti this month.

A popular figure of the Nepali music sector, Prakash Gurung is an artist who enjoys originality in singing as well. Gurung has been a creative artist in the modern Nepali music sector since four decades back.

The name Hariman Gurung is taken with high respect in the music society in Darjeeling. Hariman Gurung was regarded as a skilful musician in Darjeeling in the late 1950s. Prakash Gurung was born to the same Hariman in 1953. So, music came to him from his family and he refined his skills since an early age in the company of renowned musicians like Amber Gurung, Sharan Pradhan, Karma Yonzon and Gopal Yonzon.

After coming to Kathmandu, Prakash Gurung continued to harness his music skills through Guru Rangarao Kadambari. Prakash, who has given popular music to suit the voices of many singers, is also regarded well versed in playing different musical instruments. Sun Chandi Bhanda, Joban Yasai Bitisakyo, Ma Samjhanthe, Dherai Najik, Sadak Jindagi Ho, Bola Bolaare among the many popular and quality songs carrying his music.

This Paleti, it will be first ever solo program by Prakash Gurung. Getting an opportunity to listen to the expression of a musician's creation from his own voice is the feature of this Paleti.

"I am taking part in Paleti with the confidence that the Paleti series has been developing a positive thought in the field of Nepali modern music. At Paleti, I will try to express my creations deep from within my heart and I hope the audience will enjoy it", says Prakash Gurung, while rehearsing a song.

Coordinator of the Pateli series, Aavaas says, "It is a matter of enthusiasm for us to have a multi-talented musician like Prakash dai at Paleti. This Paleti is expected to add some light to the Nepali music sector."

Prior to Prakash Gurung, the names of renowned figures in the music sector like Bhim Birag, Shanti Thatal, Kumar Subba, Karma Yonzon, Daisy Baraili, Manjul, Fattehman and Dawa Gyalmo have already been associated with the Pateli series run by nepa~laya
